PAUL & JOE POPS UP French brand PAUL & JOE popped up, literally, in Toorak Village on Thursday. The pop-up store will be open for one month only, peddling current season stock at up to 50% off, before closing for a facelift. Melbourne designer Mardi Doherty is in charge of transforming the store into Australia's second signature and permanent PAUL & JOE boutique, and Melbourne's first. The retail space at shop 2,

462 Toorak Road, is open until September 27. It will reopen in its new guise in mid-October.

FACE OFF The local fashion industry is in the midst of one serious face-off. Taking the lead from David Jones (Megan Gale and Miranda Kerr), then Myer (Jennifer Hawkins and Rebecca Twigley) and the success of their famous faces, it seems every fashion brand and related event now needs a face. With so many faces, bodies and souls for fashion brands and events it's hard to keep track of whose face belongs to whom. If you're as confused as I am, here's a quick refresher. Sally Graham is the face of next month's Melbourne Spring Fashion Week (MSFW); former MSFW face Jessica Hart is the new face of the rebranded Harris Scarfe; Eva Mendes is the international face of next month's (ACP Magazines') 30 Days of Fashion and Beauty; while Lara Bingle is the local face of the ACP event. Meanwhile, Home and Away's Esther Anderson has just been appointed the face of Decjuba's Girl's Day Out on September 6. Phew.

SEED SPROUTS Seed, the hugely popular children's-wear brand launched in 2001 by Sophie Holt (now Country Road's design boss), is branching into women's wear. Seed Femme, which will include "timeless" clothing - think silk voile and crushed-linen sundresses, well-cut jeans and brightly coloured tanks, footwear, bags and accessories - will be available from selected Seed stores nationwide and from

seedfemme.com from October. -- Rachel Wells
